Stories of Hope

Madelin, small bowel recipient

Mady was born with Hirschsprung’s disease – a condition that affects the large and small intestines. At 9 months old, she underwent a small bowel transplant. Unfortunately, Mady went into rejection a couple years later and was in need of a second transplant. In 2016, she received the gift of life for a second time. Thanks to the generosity of two donor families, Mady is now a vibrant 8-year-old, and a straight A second grader who loves to dance and play with her sister. Thank you to Mady and her family for sharing this story!
