My Story

The love of my life, David, had a catastrophic fall in December after a routine surgery. Five days later, we were flooded with the love and support of our village of friends and family at his Walk of Hope at Grand Stand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. David served our country as a Navy Chaplain, was a minister, a father and step-father, a PopPop, a friend, and the most wonderful husband a woman could be blessed to have. While our journey together was cut short, I do take comfort knowing that David’s commitment to donating his organs brought hope to other families. He was indeed a servant to the end. His life in service to others is being honored in a special concert by the Carolina Master Chorale on April 28th at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, SC.

My dear friends at The Growing Tree Preschool surprised me with everyone showing their support by wearing tye-dyed t-shirts on Friday. I also invited close friends to send me photos of their blue and green to celebrate the life of love for others by our David. If one person made the decision to become an organ donor by all of my social media posts, it makes the difficulty of living life without him at least purposeful.

I am grateful for Donate Life and all the work you do to help families who are grieving loss and families who wait. You make a difference in this world. Thank you,
