Donate Life America (DLA) works with state affiliates to present Donate Life Champion awards to well-known athletes, teams and other role models within the sports community who have demonstrated remarkable support for organ, eye and tissue donation.
Donate Life State Teams are encouraged to nominate local members of the sports/athletic community who have encouraged fans to sign up as organ, eye and tissue donors on their state registry or on the National Donate Life Registry at RegisterMe.org.
These nominees may be athletes, coaches, teams, trainers, athletic directors, leagues, sports reporters or someone otherwise connected to a sport and have done any or all of the following:
- been personally touched, as a donor family, living donor, recipient, family member of someone who died waiting, etc.
- encouraged others to join a donor registry through donor drives, social media, traditional media, email blasts, personal testimonies, etc.
- made it a personal goal to inspire others to give the gifts of life, sight and mobility
- volunteered their name, position and fame to promote the cause of organ, eye and tissue donation.
Please note: We will be updating this page throughout the year as additional resources become available.
