Excellence in Youth Education Award
2023 Award Recipient: Divakaran Manimaran and the Piscataway High School Donate Life Club
Schools across the country play a vital role in helping spread the important message of organ, eye and tissue donation. The Excellence in Youth Education Award recognizes a school or individual that has gone above and beyond to creatively educate students about donation.
Quiet Giant Award
2023 Award Recipient: Kevin Smolen, Fireside Digital
The Quiet Giant Award is given to an individual(s) who has made a significant contribution to increasing organ, eye and tissue donation in the United States by leading through service and commitment, often behind-the-scenes and without public recognition, to help increase donation and transplantation.
Trey Schwab Coaching Legacy Award
2023 Award Recipient: Ieesha Johnson, Infinite Legacy
The Trey Schwab Award is presented annually to a professional in the field of donation and transplantation who is recognized as a coach and trusted advisor by their colleagues, and who has furthered the collective work of Donate Life America and Donate Life State Teams.
The award is named in honor of the late Trey Schwab, a double lung recipient and former Marquette University basketball assistant coach. Trey worked tirelessly for more than a decade to promote donation and was a friend and mentor to his colleagues in the professional Donate Life Community.
James S. Wolf, M.D. Courage Award
2023 Award Recipient: Sarah Royf, Student Organ Donation Advocates (SODA)
The James S. Wolf Courage Award is named for the pioneering transplant surgeon and founder of the Coalition on Donation (now, Donate Life America) and is awarded to a person or organization outside the professional donation and transplantation community who has played a significant role in helping to extend the Donate Life mission.

Pinnacle Awards
The Pinnacle Awards were established in 2012 to annually recognize and share outstanding, effective and innovative programs from organizations in the Donate Life Community. The awards followed the 2011 Donate Life America-commissioned Donor Designation Success Study, designed to understand which efforts were most successful in increasing donor registrations across the country.
In 2023, DLA recognized five program category winners and four “Best of the Best” Pinnacle Awards. The “Best of the Best” Pinnacle Awards recognize the best overall program (Platinum), as well as those outstanding in innovation, multicultural community outreach, and remixing or reimagining a standard practice to reach new success.
